Senior Vice President, Property Management
Jeff Baker joined Conifer in 2021 as Senior Vice President, Property Management on our Conifer Leadership Team. He is responsible for leading efforts to develop and strengthen the performance of our Property Management team and operations to ensure we develop and maintain our growing portfolio of Conifer Communities as effectively and efficiently as possible.
Jeff brings with him more than 32 years of experience in the multifamily housing industry. Most recently, Jeff served as President of Beacon Communities in Boston, where he played a critical role in growing the company’s portfolio from 6,000 units to more than 20,000 units (consisting of LIHTC, Mixed Income, HOPE IV, Section 8, Section 236, Affordable Elderly/Family, Home, Rural Development, and Market Rate apartments). During Jeff’s 14 years as President, he helped to usher in a period of strategic growth for the organization by developing and executing business goals, implementing numerous technology initiatives, and leading to efforts to create Beacon University, a comprehensive employee training and development program designed to strengthen Beacon’s team and accelerate leader performance at all levels of the company.
Additionally, Jeff led efforts to foster employee engagement and oversaw a host of “best place to work” initiatives. He also worked collaboratively with a performance improvement team responsible for driving enhanced REAC scores and Management Occupancy Review results, lease-rent optimization programs, and NOI growth. These results were achieved through revenue maximization efforts, expense reduction programs, and extensive financial training for all property management team members. Because of Jeff’s extensive field experience, a particular focus during his tenure as President of Beacon was building bridges and relationships between the various departments and property management, especially between the Home Office and Site Teams. This resulted in a highly engaged and high-performing culture marked by caring, trust, open communication, and innovation. Jeff is bringing this track record of Property Management success to his role at Conifer, with efforts already underway to build and sustain high-performance in our people and our operations.
Jeff has served on the Board of Directors of several industry associations, including the National Assisted Housing Management Association and the Virginia Tech Residential Property Management Advisory Board, where he served as Chairman.
