“On Thursday, Aug. 13, Sam Leone, vice president of development for Conifer LLC of Mount Laurel, will be one of three featured panel speakers at the (SNJDC) Southern New Jersey Development Council’s (SNJDC) Environmental Remediation Seminar at Atlantic Cape Community College.
According to Leone, “Over the past 15 years, I have been involved with remediation efforts of dozens of brownfield sites. Since its inception in 2009, Site Remediation Reform Act which allows companies like Conifer to work with a Licensed Environmental Remediation Professional (LSRP) to redevelop and return properties with areas of concern back to valuable community assets.”
Leone will join Ken Sheppard, project manager at South Jersey Industries and Ed Curry, environmental risk manager at Wells Fargo on a panel to discuss how the Site Remediation Reform Act has worked throughout the state, financing options used for successful remediation and how to work with the LSRP program.
Leone will specifically focus on current Conifer projects to include: Rittenberg Manor in Egg Harbor City, Riverfront Village in Pennsauken and Duffy School in Florence. He will explain how these projects were remediated using the SRR Act and returned to their respective communities to support and enhance economic development, create new housing opportunities and increase job opportunities.
Registration for the event starts at 9 a.m. The panel presentation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by, Charlene Drake, senior project manager at Langan Engineering & Environmental Services presenting an environmental remediation case study.
