Tajeed Residences at Cadwallader Street and West Oxford Street has three buildings totaling 60,000 square feet over a city block.
It has 45 apartments and was developed by an entity called Tajdeed Redevelopment Associates, a partnership that involved Conifer Realty, a Rochester, N.Y., developer, and Arab-American Development Corp., which has been doing work in Kensington since 1997.
The project was funded through a variety of sources including $2.1 million from the city, $10.9 million in low-income housing tax credits, and a $1.3 million loan.
The units are affordable to any income-qualified tenants.
The development includes a community room with kitchenette, lounge area, exercise room, computer lab, laundry room, a community garden and an 8,000 square feet of green roof.”
