Letter From Conifer

“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”

Maya Angelou

Conifer made a pledge to peacefully stand against racism and inequality in any form, and to do more within our own organization to ensure every team member and resident feels welcome, respected, and valued…always.

Over the past several months, we have taken this commitment to heart and have learned a lot. Through candid feedback shared by team members, residents, and the communities we serve, we’ve learned that while we are doing many things right, we also have room to grow as we strive to create real and lasting change in our culture with respect to racial equality, diversity and inclusion. At Conifer, we are committed to this growth and the necessary work that’s required to achieve it. To ensure we get it right, we will be engaging an external Diversity and Inclusion consultant within the next few weeks to assist us in establishing a strategy and structure for this important work, which will initially be focused on helping our Conifer Team:

  • Openly discuss the state of racial equality, diversity, and inclusion at Conifer.
  • Recognize our own cultural biases, blinders, and behaviors that prevent growth.
  • Establish key diversity and inclusion goals and initiatives.

At Conifer, we aim to create vibrant and inclusive communities built on strong foundations that offer A HOME for Possibilities for all. Guided by our values, we are continually striving to do what we do, better. And there is no more important opportunity to do better than the one we have today. We look forward to sharing our progress with you in the coming months.
